Description: Teaspoon. Olive pattern. Silver. Upturned, pointed-ended handle with egg-shaped bowl. Raised pattern covers entire front and back of handle and stem. Threading along the edges of front and back. Oval shaped void at the top of the handle with olive leaves at either end. Stamped or cast on back of stem: "1847" and in upper case roman letters, "ROGER BROS X11". Beside that mark is a circular hallmark in the center of which is a set of scales above a five pointed star above which is the word "M[erid]en" below which are the words in upper case sans serif letters: "B.COMPY" incuse.

Provenance: The Meriden Britannia Co. (a.k.a. 1847 Rogers Bros) introduced it's version of the "olive" pattern c. 1879 (Turner, p.378).
