Description: Fish Slice. Silver. Silver-plated metal. "Olive" pattern. Handle with flat shank broadening to upturned, somewhat pointed end with short rib; embossed decoration on both surfaces of handle having standard arrangement of scrolled borders and foliage. Asymmetrical blade with S-curved cutting edge; blunt upper edge, also S-shaped, in outline, has slight upward curve except at scalloped section near end. Face of blade engraved with a design of intertwining vines and foliage. Impressed mark on reverse, incuse: "1847.ROGERS.BROS." and "A1" in upper case roman letters, being line and quality designations.

Provenance: Although this piece of tableware does not have the donor's family name on it, it is of the same pattern as other pieces marked with the Jewell name. This piece may have been part of a set owned by Margaret H. Jewell's parents, Susan A. Bradley (1826-1908) and Harvey Jewell (1820-1881) of Boston, MA, married in 1849.
